INTRODUCING A VERY SPECIAL PERSON AND PHOTOGRAPHER, AND A GREAT SPECIAL CHRISTMAS DEAL FOR THAT SPECIAL GIFT

I am joining up today with the BIG YELLOW TAXI EDITION OF SONG OGRAPHYWhen I saw the song for this week, it reminded me of an event in my own life.  Way back in 1968, when I  was a very young nursing student and living in Chicago.    I used to often go and surprise my dad in the evening at the Chicago train station, UNION STATION, in the early evening before my dad went home to the suburb after a day at work.  So one day, I decided to stop by there and say hello to him and have a carmel milkshake which was my favorite treat. When I arrived,  surprisingly, my half sister was there visiting with him. She and I were not close, but she had a small baby boy with her, her new son, and she was there visiting, unexpectedly, with our father. So I briefly met this tiny little guy, and then, off they went in  A BIG YELLOW TAXI!  I had no idea at the time that it would be  41 YEARS before I would see this young man again. It is a long story, not for here, but we connected after a series of event, after all of this time. His mom had died many years before, and I had never had the privelege of seeing him.  So in 2009, we had the chance to establish a friendship  and family relationship which has been so important to me, and has been such a fun relationship. He is also a photographer, and we have been able to connect many places to enjoy this mutual hobby.SOOOOO, I Had to stop by and introduce you to a this photographer who I think is very special.  This is my nephew, and has been a very important photography mentor in my life for the past few years, and I  think his work is really special. No matter where he is, he has his camera gear with him, and he is never looking for the usual shot, but is always looking for that SPECIAL, ONE OF A KIND PHOTO. He specializes in NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY and is willing to do what ever it takes to get something really unique. This may mean spending the night out in the desert in the winter to photograph the stars  in a ghost town, or it may mean hiking down in to the grand canyon to photograph areas that most of us will never see in our lifetime, or it may mean getting up at dawn to photograph the grand canyon at sunrise. His photography is really stellar!  One of those people that I know I am going to be saying "I knew you when".
He has a great website with alot of his best photography in it, and right now has a special sale on photos.
If you are like me, you may still be doing some Christmas shopping, and if you are, and you really want a first class, original nature shot, you should check out his website.  There are many options for ordering, and the pricing is right.
I have had the privelege of sharing a couple of his adventures with him and always have such a great time. Hoping for more of these, and always learn so much when I go with him..

  4. you would be well inspired and bounce off one another when you get together Jeanne; I think the guys have it over us some when they can solely venture out into the wide blue yonder alone and do wonderful explorations like this. I'd love to 'be there' but not got the courage to go it alone. I'll go check out John's website to enjoy his wonderful photography. Happy wishes to you

    1. The shot of John jumping across this canyon was definitely real... I did not take it! It was taken with his camera on a tripod. I didn't even see it, as I had left to hike up the hill back towards the car. There were a series of these , each very SCARY ( exciting) in its own right... on the way to the rim, several as he was jumping, and the landing one was pretty scary as it looked as if it was just on the very edge that he landed. Then there was one of the photography class instructor grabbing his hand. Hopefully they got what they wanted on the first try, and never think of this again.

  21. Holy Guacamole Batman! These are FANTASTIC captures! Seriously...I think I"d do a LOT of things for a photo, but jumping over the Grand Canyon? I think the buck would have stopped there for me. Now if I could get someone ELSE (who I didn't know!) do it so I could take a shot....well....okay, wouldn't do that either :). I really enjoyed reading about your nephew and your connection. A true gift. Thanks for joining in on Song-ography.

  24. What a wonderful post. Your nephew is indeed talented (and a bit crazy I'd say for that leaping shot) but wow his photography is wonderful. I checked out his gallery, especially enjoyed the fall foliage shots. Thank you for sharing your story about meeting him.
