|We are often only a shadow of ourselves without those that we love.|
When I was considering what I wanted to post for this week, I was struck yesterday with just how important this is.
An older couple that I have known for many years..... just recently, this gentleman's wife died after 64 years of marriage. This has been a difficult time for this man, and he has been experiencing much loneliness and feelings of being abandoned. Yesterday, I called to ask him to come along with me on the way to pick up my grandson from a nearby town.... at the last minute thought it might be fun to go for pizza on the way. When I arrived, he invited me in to meet a new "friend' that had come to live with him in just the past week. Both of them had recently experienced a big loss... this little dogs master of 7 years had died, and my friend had lost his wife at just about the same time.
Both of them felt lost and alone...
But now both are feeling some new HOPE, now that there are
T W O O F T H E M
Such a difference it has made for both of them... this little dog has now become very excited to get on the elevator of the assisted living where both of them have lived.... he is going to a new home, and I can tell you he has taken over the apartment... which is now filled with toys and fluffy dog pillows.
And my friend.... he now has a smile on his face and told me what a difference it has made for him to come back to his apartment knowing that there will be someone there to greet him.
HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO ALL OF US TO HAVE "TWO OF US"
Definitely brought a bit of joy to my day to see this glimmer of hope in both of their eyes.
So off we went for dinner... WITH THREE OF US.
